I have recently finished reading David Swenson’s Unconventional Success: A Fundamental Approach to Personal Investment. Mr. Swenson not only is a “walk the talk” sort of guy as he head Yale University’s enormous endowment successfully but he lays out a fairly academic approach toward making investment decisions within ones own portfolio. A good way to see this in action is presented over at Ramit Sethi’s, “I Will Teach You To Be Rich” via a guest blogger Kent Irwin of eFinplan, LLC whom showed that 91% of returns of a portfolio come from asset allocation alone.
